Fondant Covered Cookies 2 - Indian Flag Cookies With Home Made Marshmallow Fondant

This is a very cool decorated cookie. They are very simple cookie. Use the basic sugar cookie dough and cut out rectangle shape and bake it. Let it cool.

Now tint some fondant with orange and green color. Roll them into strips and cut the strips into small according to the size of the cookie baked. Make equal amounts of orange, green and white strips.

Next apply some water on the strips and paste it on the baked cookies. In the Indian flag color order(Orange first, white next and then the green). Then with a edible writing ink pen draw a wheel in the center of the white fondant strip.

Home made Marshmallow Fondant :

Mini Marshmallows - 1 cup
Icing Sugar - around 3 to 4 cups
Vegetable shorting - 1/4 cup
Water - 1 tablespoon

Procedure:
Place the mini marshmallows in a medium size bowl. Add the water and place it in the microwave. Heat it for 1 minute, remove and stir it.(this time the marshmallow will be as it is) Again return the bowl to the microwave and keep it for another 1 minute. Remove and mix it. This time the marshmallow will become like a gooey paste.(if this time also the marshmallow is in full shape, return it to the microwave for 1 more minute, It all depends upon the microwave)

Now in a huge plate or on a marble board grease the vegetable shorting.(also grease ur hands). Dump the gooey marshmallow on the greased surface. Add the icing sugar and start kneading it like a dough. If it is too gooey add more sugar or if it is too stiff, add some water.

These marshmallow fondant works well for me in decorated cookies than in cakes.
